Contemporary
A single-ridge design with clean, parallel rafters - the most streamlined option for rectangular openings.
2-Way
Hipped at both ends, the 2-Way suits wider openings where a fully enclosed ridge is preferred over exposed rafter ends.
3-Way
One square end and one hipped end - ideal for openings that sit against a wall on one side and are fully exposed on the other three.
4-Way Pyramid
Hipped on all four sides to a central apex - the classic pyramid profile that works equally well on square or rectangular openings.

Why Stratus
Eight reasons this lantern outperforms the rest
Up to 65% warmer than standard aluminium roofs
A fully thermally broken construction keeps heat in during winter and out during summer - dramatically outperforming single-skin aluminium alternatives.
Low-profile 20° pitch with hidden top caps
The fixed 20° pitch allows purpose-designed cappings that sit flush and discreet - no unsightly gaps at rafter ends, just clean sightlines to the sky.
Two-thirds narrower ridge than conventional lanterns
A 66% slimmer ridge profile means more glass, less frame - delivering the open, airy aesthetic that modern extensions demand.
Powder-coated aluminium inside and out
Hard-wearing aluminium on both faces gives a premium, architectural finish that holds its colour and resists the elements for years without maintenance.
Fast on-site fit, minimal household disruption
Pre-cut and labelled components mean less time on the scaffold and less mess in the home - a quicker, cleaner installation from start to watertight.
Any RAL finish - different colours inside and out
Specify a different RAL colour for the internal and external faces independently - match your interior décor while complementing the exterior of the building.
Jet black available as a standard colour
RAL 9005 black is now a standard option - no bespoke surcharge - making it straightforward to specify the bold, contemporary look that's increasingly in demand.
Competitive pricing with a 5-working-day lead time
Sharp trade pricing and a reliable five-day turnaround mean you can plan your project schedule with confidence and keep your customers happy.
Thermal performance
Fully thermally broken - warm in winter, cool in summer
Every single component of the Stratus Lantern incorporates a thermal break - a layer of ultra-low-conductivity material that separates the inner and outer aluminium skins. Heat transfer is dramatically reduced, keeping your energy bills down and your living space comfortable year-round.
Polyamide/glass-composite thermal breaks
The break material used throughout the Stratus system is approximately 533 times less thermally conductive than bare aluminium - making it one of the most effective insulators available in a lantern profile.
Up to 65% better than conventional aluminium roofs
Compared with a standard single-skin aluminium lantern, Stratus delivers up to 65% greater thermal efficiency - a meaningful difference that homeowners will notice on their heating bills from the very first winter.
Colour options
Your colour, your way - inside and out
Stratus is finished in a hard-wearing powder-coated aluminium on both faces. Three colours are available as standard with no lead-time penalty, and the internal and external faces can be specified independently - so you can match the interior décor while complementing the building's exterior.
If none of the standard options suit, any RAL colour can be ordered as a bespoke finish. Simply select "Bespoke RAL" in the configurator above and enter your code.
Standard colours
Mix and match: internal and external colours are specified separately. For example, white inside with anthracite grey outside - or any combination you need.
New option
Hey good lookin' - aluminium internals are here
Every Stratus Lantern now comes with a premium aluminium internal finish as standard. Available in White, Grey and Black - or any bespoke RAL colour - aluminium internals deliver a premium, architectural finish that pairs beautifully with aluminium windows and bi-fold doors.
Competitively priced and available on the same 5-working-day lead time as the standard range - included on every lantern, no upgrade required.
Craftsmanship
Simply built better.
Every detail of the Stratus Lantern has been thought through from first principles. The fixed 20° pitch isn't arbitrary - it's the angle that allows purpose-designed cappings to sit perfectly flush, eliminating the unsightly gaps at rafter ends that plague lesser systems. The result is a clean, uninterrupted view of the sky from inside the room.
Look at the lantern from above and you'll see almost nothing but glass. The perimeter beam is finished in a discreet dark tone so that, from a drone or an upstairs window, all that registers is glazing and a fine shadow line - not a frame.
20°
Fixed pitch - the precise angle for flush, gap-free cappings and maximum sky visibility.
66%
Slimmer ridge than conventional lanterns - more glass, less frame, better views.

Common questions
Frequently asked questions
Can I specify different colours for the inside and outside of the lantern? +
Yes - the internal and external faces are specified independently. You can choose any combination of the three standard colours (White RAL 9016, Grey RAL 7016, Black RAL 9005) or enter a bespoke RAL code for either face. This lets you match the interior décor while complementing the building's exterior cladding or window frames.
What is the maximum size for a Stratus Pyramid lantern? +
The Stratus range covers widths up to 3,000 mm and projections up to 6,000 mm, with 44 size combinations available across the matrix. Use the Width and Projection selectors in the configurator above to find the exact size you need - pricing updates automatically.
What U-value does the glazing achieve? +
Most Stratus Lantern sizes accept glazing with a U-value of 1.2 W/m²K or better, which satisfies current Building Regulations for the majority of installations. Lanterns with a projection under 600 mm require glass rated at 1.0 W/m²K. The exact U-value for your chosen size and glazing specification is confirmed in the Thermal Design Guide. If you're unsure, contact us before ordering.
Is the Stratus Lantern genuinely thermally broken throughout? +
Yes - every component in the Stratus system incorporates a polyamide/glass-composite thermal break, not just the main rafters. This material is approximately 533 times less thermally conductive than aluminium, which is why Stratus achieves up to 65% better thermal performance than a conventional single-skin aluminium lantern. There are no cold bridges hidden in the system.
How long does delivery take after I place an order? +
Standard lead time is 5 working days from order confirmation to despatch. Components arrive pre-cut and labelled on a single pallet, along with a printed installation plan. Bespoke RAL colours are available on the same lead time. If you need a specific delivery date, get in touch and we'll do our best to accommodate your schedule.
Do I need a professional installer, or can I fit it myself? +
The Stratus Lantern is designed for trade installation. While the pre-cut, pre-labelled system makes the process as straightforward as possible, working at height and achieving a watertight seal requires appropriate skills and equipment. We recommend using a competent installer who is familiar with aluminium lantern systems. The installation video on this page gives a clear overview of the process.
Can I order a bespoke RAL colour, and is there a surcharge? +
Any RAL colour can be specified for either the internal or external face (or both). A bespoke RAL surcharge applies and is calculated automatically when you select "Bespoke RAL" in the configurator above and enter your code. White (RAL 9016), Grey (RAL 7016) and Black (RAL 9005) are available as standard colours with no surcharge.
What warranty comes with the Stratus Lantern? +
The Stratus Lantern is backed by a manufacturer's warranty covering defects in materials and workmanship. Please contact us for full warranty terms applicable to your order, as coverage may vary depending on the installation and glazing specification chosen.
Testimonials
"We expected a kit. What turned up was a pre-fitted lantern in pieces, with every bolt labelled and a phone number for the engineer who built it. Watertight by Sunday afternoon."
